Google Adwords with Nigritude Ultramarine
One addition I have made to the site that has no SEO use at all is the addition of google adwords by the adsense program. As Nigritude Ultramarine is a highly searched term at present I thought I would try and cash in on it! Also I fell my site may get more traffic as I am writting an E-Book (soon to be available) about the compeition, seo in general and the history of google.
The E-Book will be available for a small fee and will provide in depth analysis of the competition results and google's ranking algorithm. I will also be writting an article for an online e-zine that I write for about the competition as it will be of high relevance to the SEO industry.
If you are interested in this e-book and / or would like a free chapter please email at tstolber@lycos.co.uk ans express your interest. Thanks!

Blogging and the Nigritude Ultramarine Contest
What a surprise! I had been eagerly waiting for Google to re index my page with the link to this blog. I was running at 33rd in the .com and 2nd in the .co.uk! I was pretty happy with this. I made no changes other than adding a link to this blog and I saw my self well down in the results! This was not very good! Scince then it has risen slightly but I have decided to take the link to the blog of of the Nigritude Ultramarine site and revise it slightly.
My Assumption is that becuase this blog has a lower PR and that it has only a few links to it it detracted from the relevance slightly. This is still very surprising to me and I already have another blog experiament planned. I still firmly believe that over time a blog is a very useful SEO tool.
This is not good news for me in the competition though as there is only 3 days left until the judging date!

The end is nigh!
The End of the Nigritude Ultramarine compeition is drawing close so expect to see any last ditch black hat SEO techniques comming out with avengeance. Have a look at this Nigritude Ultramarine site that has no external links (except this one now), no other internal pages but just a well optimised single page with a couple of relevant links. This site is not designed to win the competition but is just a representation of how a traditionally well optomised site should be.
My Entry is currently 33rd and the link to this blog has not yet been indexed. It is my hope that this will do quite well for it. The competition finishes on the 7th of July. Check back in for more news in the next couple of days. Why not bookmark this site and tell other people about it! Better still why not link to my Nigritude Ultramarine site at - http://www.web-wizard.org.uk/seo-challenge/ please use the text "Nigritude Ultramarine" as the anchor text for the hyperlink.
Cheers!

How Blogging can help you
As I have mentioned, it is reputed that blogging can increase page rank quite dramatically due to lots of relevant linking sites. One other thing that has come to my
attention is that blogging is very comunity orientated.
This goes some way to taking away some of the impersonality of the web and helps and the human touch. This is one of the major barries to doing business on the web
and is subsequently of great interest to many.
Check out this Nigritude Ultramrine blog that spells out all about the comunity strengths that blogs provide.

Finally Link Popularity and Page Rank!
After a short while of dropping down my site is comming back up again!
Currently I am 35th with a link popularity of 14. I am not actively seeking links as I think it would start to get messy and become like a link farm. Afterall I am testing a different theory that no one else has picked up on and it seems to be wokring quite well.
I have also created another site - just one page - no internal links and no sites linking to it. As you would expect it is not ranking majorly high but it is in the top 250. It has a nigritude ultramarine domain name and is used as a trial to compare how link popularity really affects a site. My early quess before too many comparisons can be drawn is that its not as important as it used to be and link relevance is now FAR more important.

Blog Feed Back
As this is my first foray into blogging I was very interested to see what effect it has on SERPs. As it is reputed and in fact quite obvious that blogging can dramatically benefit your search rankings, I am keen to see how it goes. The thing I wan't expecting so much was feedback even after my first post!
Thanks to the people who pointed out some minor details and also to the person that seems to know the anatomy of googles search engine quite well!
I have read ana rticle (during the development stage) of the anatomy of google's data structure. Very interesting and quite unique! I can see why they don't see caches and old index results as a problem during change over as in the scheme of things it doesn't really mater - just annoys SEO's and web masters for a short period!
Keep the comments coming, and why not link to me via this blog!

The Competition
I am currently running 45th in the nigritude ultramarine competition. The site had a high position of 31st and all was going well. Then I believe it was subject to a spam attack and for some reason google rolled back to an older version of the site in its index. It then took a few days to get back up to a reasonable level. Also, interestingly google has not indexed any of my external links. I still have a link popularity of 0 according to gogle. As it is reported that link popularity has a huge effect in google it will be very interesting to see what bearing this has on the site. Check the Nigritude Ultramarine site out here.
